Culpeper Citizens at Cedar Mountain
The Culpeper Citizens at Cedar Mountain Battlefield Tour will tell the story of how Culpeper natives experienced the battle from both a combatant and non-combatant perspective. We will discuss and visit the sites where the Culpeper Minutemen and the Culpeper Riflemen Brandy Rifles fought as members of the 13th VA Inf. We will follow civilian accounts of the battle and tell how the war changed the lives of those both free and enslaved. Finally, we will follow in the footsteps of BGen A.P. Hill, the most famous Culpeper native of the American Civil War, and discuss how his leadership influenced the fighting. Also included will be two living historians from the Cedar Mountain Battlefield Foundation to discuss the experiences of women during this era.
